It is with profound sorrow that the Directors, Management and Staff of the Hand-in-Hand Group of Companies mourn the passing of our esteemed Director, Dr. Ian A. McDonald, A.A., D.Litt. Appointed to the Board of Directors on 30th November 1989, Dr. McDonald served the Hand-in-Hand Group with distinction for more than three decades. A gentleman of remarkable intellect, unwavering integrity and quiet humility, he provided visionary leadership, wise counsel and steadfast commitment that helped shape the Company’s enduring strength and success. Beyond his distinguished service to the Company, Dr. McDonald was one of Guyana’s and the Caribbean’s most celebrated literary figures. An acclaimed author, poet, editor and cultural ambassador, his extraordinary contributions to literature, culture and national development earned him numerous honours, including Guyana’s Golden Arrow of Achievement (A.A.), an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.), and Fellowship of the Royal Society of Literature. His remarkable legacy extends far beyond the written word, touching countless lives through his wisdom, grace and enduring love for Guyana. As we reflect on his extraordinary life, we remember not only a respected Director, but also a trusted colleague, mentor and friend. His wisdom, kindness and exemplary character enriched our Company and inspired all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. His legacy will forever remain woven into the history of the Hand-in-Hand Group. The Hand-in-Hand Group of Companies extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his beloved family, loved ones and all who mourn this profound loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace, and may his remarkable legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
