Hand-in-Hand Youth Group Finishes Among Top 10 in National Debating Competition
Georgetown, Guyana – June 26, 2026 – The Hand-in-Hand Youth Group concluded its remarkable journey in the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2026 after competing against the NextGen Youth Group in Match 3 of Round 2.
The debate, held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., centred on the moot: “Caribbean dependence on tourism as an economic driver is misguided.” Our team delivered well-researched arguments, thoughtful rebuttals, and demonstrated the confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking that have defined our participation throughout the competition.
Following the debate, the adjudicators commended both teams for their outstanding performances and offered valuable feedback to further strengthen their debating skills. The final average scores stood at 215 to 200 in favour of the NextGen Youth Group.
While our journey in this year’s competition has come to an end, we are incredibly proud to have advanced to the Top 10 out of 56 youth groups from across Guyana, a significant accomplishment that reflects the dedication, resilience, and hard work of every member of our team.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the NextGen Youth Group and Mr. Arthur Roberts on their victory and wish them continued success in the remainder of the competition.
The Hand-in-Hand Youth Group also expresses sincere gratitude to our supporters, mentors, coaches, and everyone who encouraged us throughout this incredible experience. We leave the competition stronger, more confident, and inspired to continue developing our voices as young leaders and advocates.
Congratulations to our debaters for representing the Hand-in-Hand Group of Companies with excellence. The future is bright, and this is only the beginning.
