On Saturday October 7, 2017, The Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire & Life Insurance Companies Ltd held its 13th Annual Cycling Programme at the National Park. Once again, the event saw 11 successful races which were organized by Mr. Hassan Mahamad, National Cycling Coach.

Williams’ performance is nothing better than a well calculated one as he along with second, third and fourth place finishers, Christopher Griffith, Raynauth Jeffrey and Kemuel Mosses broke from a pack of about 20 riders after the completion of 20 laps and they were never caught again, increasing the lead after the sudden break with every lap. With six laps remaining in the event, the quartet increased their lead from 125 metres to almost 800 metres with two laps remaining, with Jeffrey holding the lead. However, with one lap remaining, Williams broke to the front.

In the juvenile category, Marcus Keiler placed third behind Briton John and Niguel Dugid, respectively, in the 10-lap event.
The Mountain Bike five-lap race was won by Shane Bourne. Second was John Christian.
In the veterans’ categories, Kennard Lovell was first in the over-50 years of age group, while Shameer Baksh placed second and Monty Parris third. In the under-50 years of age race over the same five-lap distance, Warren McKay was first, Junior Niles second and Leer Nunes third
John Niles won the three-lap race for BMX boys 9-12 years old ahead of Michael McKay and Marian McKay respectively.
